Another way to convert Skate Reel videos

Since UnderTo3 has started to request donations for his EA Skate Video Grabber site I have been researching other ways to do the same thing and have come across a good - and free way to do it.

  1. Go to the page where the EA Skate Reel video is located that you want to download.
  2. Right click on the page and choose "View Page Source" (firefox) or "View Source" (Internet Explorer)
  3. In the text file, go to the Edit menu and choose "Find".
  4. Type .flv in the box and click OK. This will locate the path to the actual video file.
  5. Select from the http:// part to the .flv part and either press CTRL+C to copy or select "Copy" from the Edit menu.eg: http://downloads.skate.online.ea.com/Content/xbl2/SKATE-2008/Videos
    /02595/819681827/I1rbMAAAAADXTypeIw98AA.flv
  6. Go to the FLVix website
  7. Click in the URL box and press CTRL+V or choose "paste" from the edit menu
  8. Choose the Desired Format you want - I have been using AVI
  9. Press the Convert button
  10. The video will convert and then start downloading on it's own. Save the file to your hard disk and go from there!

There are other methods of downloading the EA Skate Reel videos too - although most do not allow direct conversion of the file and will require you to install an FLV converter program to then upload them to sites such as YouTube.

For the moment, the FLVix site seems to be the one that works well with the Skate Reel site.

The best way i found if ur using mozilla is to either use “DownloadHelper” or realplayer

however these just download the flv file, so you will hav to find a converter somewhere on the web

@al FLV files “are the future”! And are great for uploading to places like Facebook and YouTube as is.

Shame you have to convert them first to edit them though.

No doubt FLV format has quickly established itself as the format of choice for embedded video on the web.
