Yet again EA Skate 2 is looking better and better each time one of these videos is released!

This video features a chat regarding Online play in Skate 2 and reveals the following tit-bits of information:

1.  You can start an online “freeskate” session where ever you want.  Pause the game - start the freeskate and find people to skate with.  Sounds cool.
2.  You will be able to create your own “own the spot” areas by dragging items in and setting scores and points.  You can then share your area online for others to download and play.
3.  There will be a “hurt yourself the most” mode where you compete to cause as much damage to your bodies as you hurl yourself off a high ledge into traffic.  This part is a bit Tony Hawk Project 8 for my liking - but could be fun.
4.  There will be the usual “S-K-A-T-E” online battles where you compete to match tricks against other online players.
5.  There will be a mode where you can make a run against another player and then others can vote for who wins based on the best line and tricks rather than the highest score.

Skate 2 looks incredible and is out 21st Jan 2009.

I can’t wait!

This is definitely going to be one of the better features of Skate 2, which is due out at the end of January 2009.

By using the online “EA Skate Graphics Editor”, you can design your own logos and images which can then be uploaded direct into the game and be stuck on your deck and clothing.

This sort of in-game customization is what keeps a title like Skate 2 fresh and interesting and gives it that “sticky” factor that the kids love.

Let’s hope that they improve the video editor too, beyond what has been shown already.

Ok. I have something to admit. I have not yet completed EA Skate!

What?

I get too hung up skating single spots over and over again rather than cruising down hills or completing objectives set by a “homie”.  I stick to my skating roots and session a spot, then move on.

My current favorite is the “yellow ramps” area in the school yard.  Know where I mean?

Anyway.. I came across this video of another of my favorite spots - “Regs”.  There are some sweet little drops and tricks to be had in this area and these H-Street guys are pulling off some sick airs and lip tricks in the mini ramp.

The new intro video for Skate 2 has been posted on YouTube and features the cast of the game in a somewhat low key prison scene.

Ray Barbee is the gun toting guard and Jerry Hsu sits staring at a giant panda.

It’s not quite as “in your face” as the previous intro video to EA Skate 1 - but it’s pretty good.

Skitching
(i.e. “ski-hitching” or “skate-hitching”) is the act of hitching a ride on the rear bumper of a car when there is ice or slick snow on the roads. It is also sometimes commonly referred to as Bumper Hitching. This can also be done with a skateboard or roller skates in urban areas where there is no ice or snow. In addition, skitching can be performed on a bicycle.

This does look like it will be useful to gather more speed for tricks and get pulled up those massive hills in San Van.

But again… it is looking more and more like the Tony Hawk Pro Skater franchise.

This is what I have been waiting for!  News about the EA Skate 2 skate.reel video editor!

It seems that EA and Black Box have been listening to Skate 1 players and have allowed much more control on the filming sections of Skate 2.

• Static cameras (tripods)
• Follow cams
• Free floating cams

Check out the video below.  Lets hope that they don’t mess up the Skate.Reel website like they did last time!  And wait?  No direct upload to YouTube mentioned?  Let’s hope they are holding out on us regarding this MUST HAVE option!

EA have rolled out the list of the Pro skaters taking part in the next installment of the Skate franchise.
Favorites like Danny Way and Rob Dyrdek are present as are many new faces.

Here, the EA/Black Box team talk about the Thrasher Hall Of Meat functions in the new game.  It looks like we will get to control the rider as they spank, crunch, mangle and graze their way to a faceplant on the concrete below.

I’m sure this was a “mini game” in Tony Hawk Project 8….

Whoa!  Another EA Skate 2 video!

This time it shows the Hall Of Meat mini-game where you try to mash yourself over the edge of a bridge to beat your mates in seeing who can screw themselves up the most.

You also get to see some cool footage of handplants, footplants and other “off the board” related stuff.

Skate 2 comes out in Mid November people!  Can’t wait!
