At the World Cyber Games this year, Dustin Valcalda (AKA DuVaL_AK47) walked home with the gold medal for beating UK based David Treacy (AKA Zaccubus) in the final of the Tony Hawks Project 8 competition.

In the final, the 2-0 victory was fought over 2 in-game locations, The School and Main Street. Valcalda had already seen off numerous opponents from various parts of the world the the pre-stages and semi finals.

Valcalda took home a prize fund of $12,000 with second and third place taking $5,000 and $3,000 respectively.

$12k should be enough to buy a new bionic thumb and a replacement controller or two!
