The LA Times has a nice interview with Mr Hawk himself about life, kids and his games over at their website.
In the interview, Tony reveals that he is deeply involved in the testing of his games and regularly receives updates from the developers to run through.
It's nice to see that he takes such an active role in his games and doesn't just add his name and image to front of the box and reap the cash.
He also reveals that he is working with Activision on his next game, due out in Fall 2009 that will be "way more relistic" and "interactive".
I look forward to his answer to Skate 2 next year.
**UPDATE** Tony Hawk Ride is due for release in October 2009. Pre-order now!

i believe that they need to make it more realistic with better graphics. I also believe that if they wan’t it to be really succesful then they will need to make a scooter available to ride as well (like in Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland) due to the fact that scooters are becomming extreamly popular now all around the world. And people all around the world are just waiting and waiting for a game where they will get to ride a scooter. I do like the rumors about this “skateboard peripheral” controler so you don’t have to use your hands. a skateboard that you would have to mimic actual moves as a controler would be totaly awsome. This is just me and about all of australia’s opinion.
@Dylan
I think a scooter game is a good idea – but not in a skateboarding game!
You need to keep them separate otherwise the next Hawk game will just be a mish-mash of stuff rather than just a pure skating game.
Just like the car racing levels in the THUG games – they were fun, but a bit out of place.
As for the “peripheral” I hope he makes some kind of fingerboard controller. It would be silly – but kinda fun!
yer i do agree with what you said. A fingerboard controler would be awsome for a controler. And i agree that a scooter/skateboard game would be a bit of a mish-mash. But i just wish that someone would make a pure scooter game.
Hey Tao. I was reading some stuff about the new game and Tony himself said that they are now thinking of using the wii fit board as the controler
I think the use of the Wii Fit board as a control mechanism is a bad one.
Skate It for the Wii has not done very well.
It’s just a gimmick.
true
I think they should stop making the nintendo wii version better like the creators do for the xbox 360 and ps3 because im getting tired of the sucky boring versions.
I think they should start making the nintendo wii version better like the creators do for the xbox 360 and ps3 because im getting tired of the sucky boring versions.
I think they should start making the nintendo wii version better like the creators do for the xbox 360 and ps3 because im getting tired of the sucky boring versions they make for other console like the wii. I will say EA kicked you guys butts with skate,skate-it and skate2.
I think Tony Hawk skateboarding in the white house was absolutly amazing. I guys if you and old fart you would see it as repulsive. I wish i could grind on Obamas dinner table, lol.
hwy why is not for PC?????????????
i think it need to have a realistic story as much as realistic skating. Like a story of a skater that might happen like thug1 sort of but the only problem with that one was that it was too fast to be realistic. They should look at real skaters both famous and ones struggling for a sponser and base it about those kinda things. why they skate why its fun and incorperate that into the game.its gotta be about skating, bruises, music, graffiti, fixing boards, and rigging well maybe not graffiti but ohwell
It would also be cool if they made a seperate game about the lords of dogtown where you have a choice of stories to play as eihter jay, stacy, tony and sid.
