Skate 3 Facts From Cuz

by Tao on March 9, 2010

Cuz has laid down some new facts for those of us that are eagerly waiting for Skate 3 to come sliding through our letterboxes. Nothing too amazing and ground breaking to be had in these little snippets, but they do show the evolution of the game and that EA and Black Box have been thinking about all the new cool stuff.

  • You can sink objects into the ground in Skate.park (the park editor). You can’t sink, embed, “merge” stuff using the object dropper out on the streets of Port Carverton.
  • There are different speeds to offboard locomotion…i.e. walk, jog, sprint. We definitely went for speed as the game is about the skating and walking up stairs slowly sucks. However, if you want to slow your stroll…you can…just ease up on the stick.
  • The Black Box park is available as part of the pre-order program worldwide. You either need to head to a retailer or pre-order from EA.com.
  • Jason Lee, does indeed reprise his Stereo character of Coach Frank for Skate 3. It was an honor and a trip to work with the real life Tres Bombing Earl. He was funny and classy all the way and he definitely brings some humour to the oxymoronic Skate.school.
  • The “live” gameplay footy you see circulating from our NY city press event is mostly Easy Mode as we wanted newcomers to feel comfortable with the game. Don’t get your high-pop no-push knickers in a twist…Bobby Digi will keep dropping the Hardcore Mode so you can check it out in Clips of the Week.
  • Open spaces exist in some areas more than others. University is pretty spacious, downtown less so and Industrial brings the noise. Object dropper can make anywhere as cluttered as you like very easily. Hey, if I can figure it out it must be easy to use. And, trust me, making something out of nothing is still a hallm ark of Skate (like skateboarding itself). I cruise around turning crap spots into gems all day. (That doesn’t sound so fun…but you get what I mean).
  • Yes, you can invite your friends to freeskate your Skate.parks. You plus 5 friends. And, there is a variety of “props” you can place your custom graphic on and then add it to your park…Team Training Facilities can be branding to show it. (We’ll do a Skate.park/Object Dropper Q and A soon)

Skate 3 drops in this May and we can’t wait! I am desperate to see what the hardcore mode will be like! Read the full Cuz post over at the EA Skate 3 blog.
