It can be said that Activision is currently in the wings of the Skateboarding game genre after getting it’s ass well and truly kicked by EA and Black Box when they released Skate last year.
Activision is an established software house with an amazing back catalog of games and they are certainly not going to take being second best lightly.
An industry analyst, Doug “i’m an analyst” Creutz spoke to EA investors recently stating:
“We believe that the extra year of development time and the opportunity for consumers to shake off franchise fatigue could contribute to better unit sales than the franchise has enjoyed in recent years.”
“We also view it as highly likely that the game will include some sort of skateboard peripheral with all SKUs when it ships, given the massive success (and higher price points and profitability) of Activision Blizzard’s Guitar Hero franchise.”
So - that means that they may launch the next titles with an add on device such as a skateboard you stand on or manipulate to play the game. Perhaps a USB enabled Fingerboard would be the answer?
Maybe a big white plastic deck with colored buttons on to pull moves when pressed in certain combinations?
No…. Please no.
Message to Activision:
Keep it real. You were the innovators - you were the leaders. Take what is good from the THPS series - take what people love from EA Skate - and make it your own!
PS. Please don’t put in “ollie the bum” mini games anymore…

LOL!
That would be the button where you get the controller and throw it through the window (after jumping up and down on it first)!
