EA have not been wonderful and keeping franchises fresh and cool - just
look at the regularly churned out efforts of FIFA or Tiger Woods. They
never get that much better and generally just end up adding more little
tweaks and additions which never amount to much more than the previous
years version!
Here are my thoughts on why Skate 2 will be pants:
1. Walking
I know this was one of the main complaints from the original - but is the ability to get off the board really that important? I think a better version of the ability to set a point to go back to and to be able to do it quickly would be better.
2. Girls
Now - before you get all “you are sexist!” on me - I like girls 
But I think their place in a skating game is not something that we should be celebrating. If EA had spent more time adding more pro skaters and better decks and equipment we would be happier! Wouldn’t we?
3. Moving Stuff About
This is a sure sign that the game is turning into a Tony Hawk clone. Sure, it’s fun to move things around and make new jumps to ride on - but seriously - EA Skate was applauded for its originality and back to basics approach! Stick to the game plan EA. Whats next - “Ollie the bum” or collecting hovering letters and hidden tapes?
4. More Tricks
I know everyone wants to be Rodney Mullen and do flatland tricks and flippy finger flips to casper all the time - but come on… The Flick-it controls is the best control scheme available for any type of skateboarding game - ever! It is now going to be more complicated and you will have more buttons to mash until you can pull off the “no-comply finger flip airwalk to fakie” that you asked for. Again - more like Tony Hawk in my opinion. KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid!
5. Handplants
Footplants and no-comply’s = yes. Handplants = No. They are so 1980’s. Get rid of them.

i was thinking the same thing. footplants and handplants are not needed in a game mostly focused on street skatein.
i dont know why they dont just keep skate as it is now..and make hella lots of downloadable content..real parks and locations would be so nice..kona, brooklyn banks, south bank, venice beach etc etc.plus clothes and equipment…thats all they need to do.

yea which is weird, cause if you say take battelfeild bad company, ea got slated for making to much of the content downloadable and not free. almost all the guns are locked and you have to pay for them hah!
its not at all like ea to mis a chance to rip off its customers with loads of costly downloadable content. im suprised they didnt release stuff for skate knowing how well received the game was.
still lets see, if skate two has to much costly downloadable content. im sayin it will. prepare to be ripped off.

Anyone can find flaws in a game. But since the game has yet to be released, who are you to judge? These new updates to the classic game aren’t going to get in the way of the core original title gamers. You don’t have to use the new tricks or make your character a girl. They just want to have a bigger selection of tricks and styles for gamers to express themselves

I remember when no-comply’s came out (Ray Barbee - Powell Peralta Public Domain video - circa 1990) and they were good then and they still are.
Hand plants are just way too old and seem a bit “shoe-horned” into the game to me - just to please the ramp/pool skaters.
I hope we are able to pull off some good handplants on the tops of buildings before we fall to our deaths - or some weird stuff like that!

First off…EA pumps games out…Yes, we know this. But who really gives a shit if they don’t update the game mechanics much? If they didn’t update a single thing in the game, and just gave a new world to skate, then the game will be fucking awesome. Skate 1…best game ever made in my personal opinion. Skate 2….I hope the additions of tricks don’t mess with the over all game mechanics much. I doubt that they will.
In the end of the day the flickit system, and amazing physics of Skate have made it a revolutionary, and nearly perfect skate game. Though I could really give two shits about grabing while I’m grinding, or handplants, or even hippy hops, I remain very confident that Skate 2 will be even more fun then the first. Walking will be one of the best additions by the way, and being able to move anything that is not bolted down anywhere you want….that is going to be fucking awesome. These are the reasons that your article, and it’s title suck….not skate 2.

I wrote this post to vent my thoughts on what seemed to be some bad examples of EA putting all sorts of stuff in the game that really would detract from the heart and soul of what Skate 1 was all about.
Yes, we need to be able to get off the board and having girls in is most likely just EA “ticking the boxes” for being socially aware and “doing the right thing”.
I just don’t want skate 2 to turn into something that we already have - Tony Hawk games.
Oh - and by the way - I am not gay, and I do skate and I don’t wish I was a Gangsta Skata.
