Our friend, Tony Hawk: Professional Skateboarder has suggested that new fangled Nintendo Wii fit device could be used as a controller for his line of skateboarding games. Jumping about on a pad on your living room carpet does not sound too appealing to me. And how will the pad know if you are a goofy or regular skater?
Without real feedback and a fairly large degree of movement in such a device, this control method is doomed to fail - badly.
If you want to jump about on a mat for half an hour - go play Dance Dance Revolution!
